On 12 April the Club entered the Suffolk Road Relay Championships held at the Northern Gateway in Colchester. This was the first time we had run this event and so didn’t really know what to expect. What I can say, is what a fantastic day we had. The energy and enthusiasm made it a brilliant day.
Each team consisted of three runners and had to run 3 miles each. The juniors, also a team of three, ran three 1.6 mile legs. We had entered seven senior teams and 1 junior team The support for each other was amazing and is was fantastic to come away with a haul of awards.
Jo Sargent, Nathalie Hooper and Maria Ward came an impressive second place in the V50 category. A strong performance was put in by Lucy Jay, Sarah Watkins and Geraldine Suckling in the V40 and Barbara Jousiffe, Belinda Godbold and Fiona Holland in V60 both teams finishing in third place.
Our V60 men, Neil Holloway, Andrew Stewart and David Godbold came home with a wonderful first place. Sadly our V40 mens team were one man down, so Adam Chamberlin ran two laps and Alli Maclean one lap, which did not place them.
Our junior U15 boys Will Fuggetti, Jack Chamberlin and Felix Clover did us proud and were place third in their category.
It was great to hear so many say how much they enjoyed the day and the club is proud of all the effort that was put in. Congratulations to everyone involved!
