On the 14th April, Stuart Price and Nikki Vince ran Manchester Marathon. After training hard, Nikki finally got to complete the marthon in under 4 hours.
This is what Stuart had to say about the day:
This was my first marathon and one that I was keen to complete before my 40th birthday. Having been a regular runner for most of my adult life, it’s only in recent years that I’d taken it to another level and competed in events around the county and further afield.
On the day, the conditions were near perfect, it was an ideal temperature with minimal wind, which kept me on track of my target time. I started with a pace that I knew was comfortable for me, and as I chipped away at the miles, I was able to increase my pace. I felt strong up to mile 20, when my calves started to feel sore. Undeterred I kept my head down, determined to keep the pace on for the remainder of the course. Mile 22 and that’s when the serious work started! My cardio felt great, my legs not so great. Naturally the pace starts to slow. Thankfully I’d done enough and by mile 26 I was nearly there. I turned the corner and in the distance, I could see the finish line. The atmosphere and the support was incredible from start to finish. I had the added support from my family who were at mile 8 and seeing me wobble over the finish line.
The feeling you get from running a marathon is like no other and I will certainly be looking at my next one in the not-too-distant future. I crossed the finish line in 2:51:26
