Cross Country on a Wet and Windy Sunday!

On a windy and wet Sunday morning on the 20th February 2022, Hadleigh Hares AC held their annual Eyes Rite North Essex and South Suffolk X Country League races around the hills of Holbecks Park, Hadleigh.

A total of 241 senior runners including 9 from our hometown club took on the challenges of five miles of hills and mud whilst coping with strong winds in the aftermath of Storm Eunice. Our men’s team of Steve Hunt, John Scaife, Paul Gardiner, Joel Bamsey, John Jousiffe and Nicholas Kricka scored a combined men’s score of 409 points with our ladies team of Elaine Turner, Rachel Bodsworth and Elizabeth Stewart scoring a combined score of 110 points. As this was the last race of our X Country season our X Country team finished in 4th place in the league overall.

Our Hadleigh Hares AC Junior team turned out in force with 15 runners taking part on our mile long X Country route including a lovely big hill and plenty of mud for them to conquer. They are all a credit to our club for how well they ran and congratulations to them for finishing 5th in the overall junior league standings.

Hadleigh Hares AC would like to thank Holbecks Park Estate and the local landowners for allowing us to use their land for this event as well as Hadleigh United Football Club for allowing us to use their facilities during the morning of the event. And finally, a massive thank you must go out to all the club members who helped to put on this event over the race weekend.
