Hadleigh Hares Running Club held our annual fixture in the North Essex and South Suffolk Cross Country league around the hills of Hadleigh on the 19th February. On what was a beautiful sunny morning 267 senior runners took on our hilly 5 mile course with a further 120 junior runners completing our 1.5 mile junior route.
Our junior Hares team of 20 all ran superbly and the club are extremely proud of their efforts on what is one of the most challenging courses they are likely to encounter. Our Junior runner of the day was Alice Bates. Overall our Juniors finished the season in 5th place in their league which is a fantastic achievement. A special mention must also go to out to Laila McNeill who finished third overall in the league standings for her age group. Many thanks go out to their coaches Jo, Steve and Sam for their continued support.
Our senior Hares team put in another great performance with 7 men and 7 ladies taking on the challenge with great results achieved. Congratulations to Aden Bell who came second male overall. Our senior runner of the day was Nathalie Hooper with a special mention going out to her, Stuart Hunt, Victoria Tapp and Aden Bell who have completed all five league fixtures this season.
On behalf of the club we would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event such a success including our wonderful marshals as well as the Holbecks Estate, Michael Craske and Hadleigh United Football Club for allowing us to use their land and facilities once again to host our annual event.
This event now brings the Cross Country season to an end but rest assured we will be back again next winter!
